Floor loom woven American natural cotton. 2/3 of the textile was woven with a texture cotton yarn. Afterwards it was dyed with marigold flowers. The dyeing was graduated from dark to light, starting with the texture to smooth. Lastly it was lightly eco-dyed with some leaves. Finished size 24″x104″ (64X260 cm) with a 3″ hand twisted fringe.
Organically grown Hungarian flax that was milled in Belgium into yarn. Floor loom woven and hand finished edging with fraying to keep the rustic feeling.
First the ahimsa silk was spun with a drop spindle for the weft weaving. After it was floor loom woven, it was dyed with the root of the madder plant. Lastly the scarf was lightly eco-dyed with some eucalyptus leaves. Finished size 13″x60″ (33cmX150cm) with a 6″ hand twisted fringe.

Dyeing drop spindled spun peace silk yarn that was hand woven on a floor loom into a scarf. The dye bath used madder root simmer over two days and then filtered. The “sludge” then will be used to made a paint for future textile projects.

It always amazes me when a newly woven piece of linen comes off the loom. The stiffness of woven flax and all other bast fibers. Something so ridged to start with, can become something that is so treasured to be passed down for generations.
This is a newly woven linen cloth standing on its own.

Weaving a bolt of fabric to be used to make some hand finished baby blankets and nursing covers. If I have enough cloth left over, I will make some baby quilted floor rugs. It is surprising how soft this cotton is. Floor Loom Woven, Organic Peruvian Cotton. Weaving Size 44″ x 7 yards
