Cotton Throws / Blankets

Just in time for LEAF. A new group of loom woven throws/blankets. Loom woven in the Texas Hill Country with American cotton, grown and spun in Georgia. Finished sizes approx. 45″-50″ x 90″ + fringe.

Same as last year I will be doing a workshop on loom weaving, but this time there will be two workshops. One at 10:15 am on 24th and 5:00 pm on the 26th. During the fest, I will have my Saori loom at my booth for those that missed the workshops. All ages are welcome from the youthful to the matured, the youngest weaver was 4 ½ yo. Afterwards, the finished woven cloth will be giving to LEAF.

Only three Natural and Organic items were used. Textured Organic Cotton Yarn from India, the Black Mud was made from the Charcoal of Grape Vine Shoots grown in Germany and Organic Home-Crafted Soy Milk.

Made to Order, New Delivery of Handspun Yarn from India.

25 kilo’s of made to order yarn. Shipped from Bhubaneswar City (Known as the Temple City of India), India.

5 kilo’s of khadi cotton yarn, 10 kilo’s of recycled saree silk yarn and 10 kilo’s of a 50/50 blended merino wool (18 micron) with mulberry silk.

It took the ladies three weeks to acquire the fiber and to spin the yarn. Shipping took one and half weeks, half a week was in customs.

Random

To mimic the random growth of grape vines, the random texture of the organic yarn, I decided to spot dye the yarn to give the future weaving the same feeling.

Now the curing phase begins for about two weeks

The next group of blankets will be using natural dyes from plants.
