Redefining Security

When I first started weaving security blankets for children, my thoughts were of Linus van Pelt, of the comic strip Peanuts. Wondering what a child must feel like having to be in a hospital.

But my thoughts have change a little. Security can also mean, a parent holding their child during a storm, reading a book to one. The comforts of a grandparent hold. Having all your pets with you while watching tv and eating popcorn. Children making tents.

Today my journey has taking me to Seward, Nebraska. What you are seeing in the truck of my car, is a weaving loom that I have just purchase.

Now, I will be able to weave groups of security blankets 60” wide. Wide enough for people to share their love.

Should they still be called security blankets, or is there a better word ?
